About the Chamber
Connecting Commerce, Strengthening Community
The West Shores Chamber of Commerce is the leading voice for business in the West Shores region of California. We advocate for a healthy business climate, connect members with resources and relationships, and promote the unique character of our desert-shore community to visitors and investors alike.
Founded on April 17, 1958 — at the height of California's mid-century optimism — the Chamber was one of the first civic institutions established in Salton City, created to promote commerce, coordinate development, and give the emerging community a unified voice. Through decades of regional boom and bust, the Chamber endured, revived, and adapted.
Reconstituted in 2026 with renewed leadership and purpose, the Chamber today supports 10+ member businesses, serves as a liaison between residents and county and state agencies, and carries forward more than 68 years of community identity. We are a non-profit, member-driven organization governed by an elected Board of Directors.

Six Decades of Impact
Formally incorporated on April 17, 1958 as one of the earliest civic institutions in the West Shores region, founded to promote commerce and give Salton City a unified voice.
Chamber suspended by the Franchise Tax Board amid regional economic strain — then revived in 1973 by civic leaders committed to keeping a business voice alive.
Formally renamed "The West Shores Chamber of Commerce of the Salton Sea, at Salton City" on December 15, expanding its identity to serve all West Shores communities.
Navigated quiet decades of rural economic challenge, experiencing periodic compliance lapses but always reviving — a defining pattern of community resilience.
Returned to stable administrative operation with updated filings, new leadership, and growing participation in Salton Sea restoration and regional planning efforts.
Reconstituted with renewed energy at a new location just behind the old building, in Seaview Plaza — supporting small businesses, bridging residents and government agencies, and carrying forward 68+ years of community identity.

A 30-year West Shores resident, founder of Casa Ramona Designs, and newly elected board member. Imari brings deep community roots and creative leadership to the Chamber.

Treasurer
Graciela brings financial stewardship and deep community ties to the Chamber board, helping ensure the organization remains strong and accountable.

Board Secretary
Member of both Peer Watch and California Peer Watch, John is a dedicated advocate for peer mental health education and outreach in the West Shores community.
